Tanya Cohen

Director of The Janice Center; piano, flute, clarinet, saxophone, ballet, hip hop, Music Together and Pre-School instructor

The owner and operator of The Music Studio in Jeffersonville from 1994-2008. Tanya began taking piccolo lessons at nine years old and then followed with flute, clarinet saxophone and piano. She began performing at 10 years old in numerous groups including The Callicoon Center Band, Livingston Manor Band, Sullivan Symphonic Band, Orange County Orchestra and Northeast Music Festival and continued through her high school years.

She obtained her degree in music performance at Kutztown University where she performed in musical groups as well as solos. She also studied and performed overseas in Italy.

In 1994, Tanya opened The Music Studio. She is a member of NYSSMA and Piano Guild. She is also active in theater with credits in The Lamb, Glass Menagerie, A Shayna Maidel and Fiddler on the Roof. Tanya is also the only licensed Music Together instructor in Sullivan County. She took over the Hip Hop program at The Janice Center in 2010 and within a year grew the participation level from 12 to 30. She has taken Hip Hop workshops in NYC and tirelessly researches and choreographs new moves and routines.

The Janice Center fulfills a lifelong dream of Tanya's as well as her late mother Janice for whom the Center is named.

Dan Pic

Dan Parisi

Guitar and Drums Instructor

At age 18, Dan formed an original four piece melodic punk rock band called Next II Nothing in which he played guitar and was a vocalist. The band was signed to a Canadian record label about a year later and did some touring in the United States and Canada.

With Next II Nothing on hiatus, Dan is currently part of another band called Good N Loaded in which he plays bass and sings. Good and Loaded plays a wide variety of music ranging from popular hits of the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and today at venues in the tri-state area.

Dan attended Orange County Community College where he earned an Associates Degree. He then graduated from SUNY New Paltz in 2002 earning a Bachelor's degree in secondary education (social studies) and earned his Master's degrees from the New York Institute of Technology. He is currently a Social Studies teacher in the Sullivan West school district. He has been teaching guitar for the past five years.

Lindsey Bauer

Brass, Piano and Voice

Lindsey is a music education graduate from The University of Susquehanna. She teaches a range of brass instruments, including trumpet, trombone and tuba as well as piano and voice.

Grace Gaebel


Grace is a Sullivan West senior who brings years of competitive gymnastics experience and accomplishments to The Janice Center. Among her notable highlights, Grace was the first person to ever achiever a perfect score at the Atlantic Edge Facility in Staten Island during Princess Classic Gymnastics Meet in 2013. In addition to her gymnastics prowess, Grace has also been one of the region's top volleyball players and track athletes. She is planning on attending SUNY Cortland in the Fall of 2019.

Danielle Strassman

Piano Instructor

Danielle Strassman, a 2011 Liberty High School graduate, has joined The Janice Center instructional team as a piano instructor. Strassman has been playing the piano since age five and studied classical piano with Dr. Alex Peh at SUNY New Paltz. There she began tutoring beginner piano classes. She graduated from New Paltz with a BS in piano performance in 2015. Since graduation, Strassman traveled to Greece and performed at Anatolia College and has taught piano courses for children through the Arts Lab at SUNY New Paltz. Currently she performs at the Monticello Methodist Church and at the Dead End Cafe.

Anthony Lupardo

Guitar/Drums Instructor

Anthony Lupardo is a 2015 Sullivan West graduate now attending SUNY New Paltz and majoring in music. He has been playing guitar since he was a young child and has performed in local bands, talent shows and college jazz ensembles.
